Steven began serving as Senior Pastor of HFBC January 31, 2016. He was called by God to the preaching ministry in 1981. He and his wife, Cindy, are from Chattanooga. Steven has been serving as a pastor since 1983. He has pastored churches in Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee. He is a graduate of The Baptist College of Florida, Bachelor of Theology; The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Master of Arts in Christian Education; Covington Theological Seminary, Doctor of Theology. His gifts and passion are preaching/teaching, leadership, and making disciples. Steven and Cindy have been married since 1981. They have two grown children, Dustin and Shae.
Terry has been on staff at HFBC since 1984 as Minister of Music and Senior Adults. He and his wife Darlene are natives to the Chattanooga area. Terry has been leading worship in churches for more than 40 years. Before that, he played the piano for church for several years beginning at the age of thirteen. Terry graduated from the Baptist College of Florida where he received his degree in Church Music. Sharing Christ, leading in worship and providing opportunities for others to share their God given talents for the Lord are the desires of his heart. Terry and Darlene have been married for over 40 years and have a son, Tyler, and a daughter Carrie.
John Basham and his family spent 32 years as IMB missionaries serving overseas in the areas of the Middle East and North Africa as well as East Africa and Europe. The vast majority of their time was spent ministering to people of the Islamic faith. John’s roles included teaching, team and strategy development, and various forms of leadership training. He has an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Higher Education. Janie is a registered Pharmacist. They have two children and three grandchildren.
Hunter joined the staff at HFBC on February 15, 2016. He graduated from Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Theology. Hunter’s love for preaching and reaching others with the gospel of Christ came at an early age. Since his freshman year of high school, Hunter has preached at numerous youth rallies, church events and revivals. He has also traveled overseas to various countries sharing the gospel, served as a counselor and camp pastor for youth camps, and provided pulpit supply in numerous churches. Hunter has been married to his wife, Sammie, since June 2016. Both are Chattanooga natives who met in Chicago with a shared love for ministry.
Debbie joined the HFBC Child Development Center staff in 1996 and has served for several years as Director. She leads and supervises a staff of 35 employees and oversees the structure and development of 8 preschool classes. Her administration and leadership skills have proven to be valuable during her tenure as she has worked to build a program founded on education while teaching children to recognize and demonstrate Christ’s love. Debbie and her husband Byron have two daughters, Amanda and Ashley, and 6 grandchildren.
Kim has been a member of Hixson First Baptist since 1982. She began serving as the Administrative Assistant in 2008. Kim greets all visitors to the church office, and provides support for all the ministries of the church. Her hobbies include photography, jewelry making, and bowling with the church bowling league. Kim is married to Chris. They have two grown sons, and two grandchildren.
Angela joined the staff of Hixson First Baptist in November, 2009. She served another local church for five years prior to HFBC. She feels truly blessed to have her job working with the church finances as well as with the members and staff. Angela enjoys volunteering on the PTF board at her son’s school. She is happily married to Scott and they have a son, Logan.
Mark began working at Hixson First Baptist in March, 2016. Mark retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, and chose to spend his retirement years in Chattanooga. He is married and has 2 grown children.
